Since the update to 2.8 the check boxes will only show if we allow the user access to update selected but wont show if we have export selected only. We dont want them to be able to update records this way but we do want the export.
This was working fine prior to the upgrade

Found issue. File from archive replace to includes\classes\fieldstypes\
